Examining empty: ECP study to get underway in Victoria

An Empty Container Park study will soon get in underway in Victoria. Government body Freight Victoria has engaged the consultancy NineSquared to carry out the study.

NineSquared carried out the NSW Empty Container Park Study.

Freight Victoria committed at a workshop in December 2020 to plan for the expansion of the Voluntary Performance Monitoring Framework Industry Workshop in parts of the Melbourne Container Supply Chain.

The State-based framework will include a set of performance indicators at the port to promote a shared understanding of performance and, ultimately, performance of the end-to-end landside container supply chain.

Performance monitoring of the container stevedore landside interface will be monitored. An expansion to empty container operations is planned.

According to Freight Victoria, the key objective of the project is to provide advice on how “this part of the container freight supply chain should be considered in work to develop the Voluntary Port Performance Model”.
