Mr Peter McQueen
Peter provides his arbitration and mediation services globally in respect of commercial disputes, in particular cross-border disputes relating to trade and transport matters.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Director and Fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) and was inaugural Chair of the Australian Maritime and Transport Arbitration Commission (AMTAC). He is also the Australian member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration.
Peter has acted as an arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, including those conducted under the auspices of ACICA, ICC, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) and the Singapore International Arbitration Commission (SIAC). He is an arbitration panel member of arbitration institutions in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Prior to 2010 he practised as a dispute resolution lawyer for 35 years and has been a member of MLAANZ since 1981. Peter is a member of ArbDB Chambers of London and Singapore and his further details can be found at www.petermcqueen.com.
Dr Robin Bowley
Robin teaches and researches in the fields of insurance, corporate and financial services law at the University of Technology Sydney.
After a brief stint as an officer in the Royal Australian Navy, Robin qualified as a solicitor and worked for six years with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, where he was involved in numerous investigations into possible breaches of corporate and financial services laws.
Robin obtained his PhD from the University of Wollongong, and his thesis evaluated international legal responses to the risk of maritime terrorism. His thesis was ranked second out of 14 dissertations internationally in the 2014 “Best PhD Thesis in the Field of Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Studies”, conducted annually by the Terrorism Research Initiative.
His updated research in this area will be published in two volumes with Routledge in 2022, with the first book focusing on the prevention of terrorist attacks at sea and the second on preventing the maritime facilitation of terrorist activities.
Robin is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and he is actively involved in a number of professional bodies. These include the Australian Insurance Law Association where, as a member of the NSW Council, he is regularly involved in the organisation of seminars on topical issues of interest to the Australian insurance industry, and the International Insurance Law Association.
