Shipping Australia was pleased to welcome the Hon Tony Pasin MP, Federal Member for Barker and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport to our offices recently.
We were pleased to provide a short presentation to Mr Pasin about Shipping Australia and about a wide variety of shipping-related matters.
Among the many topics discussed were the current state and structure of the global shipping markets, ocean freight volumes in Australia and the modal split, shipping resilience, supply of liner shipping, competition matters, shipping policy, port performance, Terminal Access Fees, container hire fees, coastal trading, industrial relations and many more.
Ultimately, Shipping Australia concluded, if all of these policy issues are allowed to run, then it is Australian importers, exporters, Australian businesses and Australian families that will bear the burden of more expensive, less reliable, less frequent and more costly services.
