Applications are open for the Young Ship Agent / Shipbroker of the Year 2024 Competition!

By Industry Contributor

Are you a young ship agent or ship broker, or do you know a young ship agent or ship broker?

Do you want to win a prestigious, internationally-acclaimed, award?

Do you want to win the opportunity to present your work before your international peers in Athens, Greece?

Then you want to put in your application for the 2024 Young Ship Agent / Shipbroker of the Year Award!

Run each year by the Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA), the aim of the Award is to develop professionalism among young people in ship agency and
shipbroking and to encourage them to be actively engaged in the industry.

If you are 40 years old or younger, and are employed by a company that is either a full, candidate, associate, or club member of FONASBA – or are employed elsewhere in the industry – then you could be eligible to enter!

Candidates are required to write a comprehensive analysis of the role of the ship agent or shipbroker in a specific field or market sector on a topic of their choice. It could be on a specific shipping market, on a sector of the maritime industry, or on some broader related issue! It’s your choice! The paper should be written in such a way as to be understood both by professionals and by non-maritime readers.

The First Prize Winner will be awarded up to EURO 1,400; free access to a BIMCO e-Learning module of the candidate’s choice; complimentary entry into the FONASBA ACB Liner Shipping Transportation or Tramp Shipping Course. The first prize winner will also have the opportunity to present to international ship agents and brokers in October this year, in Athens, Greece.
