What can you create when you have no logo and no ABN, but plenty of momentum, genuine connections and the drive to get inspired? As it turns out, quite a lot… Welcome to Women Moving Trade, a community growing organically in NSW bringing together women from across maritime, shipping, logistics and the broader supply chain to connect, exchange ideas and inspire one another. Open and inclusive, it’s about sharing experiences, learning from each other and giving everyone the opportunity to help shape what comes next.
Starting at the Heart of Trade
And what better way to start than getting close to where trade comes to life, the place where goods arrive, depart and begin the next leg of their journey? Last week, for only its second gathering, Women Moving Trade came together at Brotherson’s House, Port Botany, for an opportunity to learn more about stevedoring operations, their connectivity to the road and rail networks and the many moving parts that come together to keep trade flowing. But the conversation soon went well beyond the operations themselves, moving naturally from what’s happening across our industry to the challenges we face, the lessons we’ve learned and the opportunities to support and learn from one another.
Diversity as a strength
And that’s where the real value lies: in the mix of people around the table. The latest gathering was a great example of that mix, bringing together representatives from NSW Ports (Port Infrastructure), GHD (Engineering and Advisory), OneStop (Ports and Logistics Technology), AbCerella (Pharmaceuticals), Harders (Freight Forwarding, Customs and Warehousing) and Shipping Australia (Shipping Government Relations & Advocacy), each contributing different perspectives and experiences to the conversation.
Ready to move with us?
We know we’re moving. Exactly where Women Moving Trade will take us is still part of the adventure, and that’s what makes it so exciting. It’s growing organically, one conversation, one idea and one gathering at a time, shaped by the people who take part and the experiences they bring.
What we do know is that we want to keep the conversation going, keep learning from one another and create more opportunities to connect across the industry. So, if you work across maritime, shipping, logistics or the broader supply chain in NSW and this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to hear from you. There’s a place for you at the table.
