AMWS discuss seafarer welfare at the Shipping Australia offices

By Industry Contributor

By the Australian Mariners Welfare Society

On 26 May the Australian Mariners Welfare Society held its quarterly Council meeting and Annual General Meeting in the SAL Boardroom.

The Council is responsible for the governance of AMWS and the quarterly meetings are used to discuss relevant issues impacting on seafarer welfare and agree on the distribution of financial grants to welfare providers. At the AGM three members of the Council were re-elected and the annual accounts approved. After the AGM a function was held for members and friends of AMWS. Representatives of MTS, Stella Maris, SAL and industry media attended as guests.

AMWS is grateful to SAL for the ongoing support and practical assistance through the use of the boardroom for these meetings. The excellent video-link facilities means that Councillors unable to attend in person can still participate.
