ANL launches direct China-PNG-Australia service

ANL has today (Friday 15 August) announced a new direct shipping service connecting China to Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Brisbane, Australia. The first sailing is scheduled to depart Shanghai, China on September 17, 2025.

Operating on a 42-day rotation with three dedicated vessels, APR2 provides a 14-day frequency between sailings.

This new loop is designed to connect major ports in Northeast Asia with key ports in the Pacific Islands.

A key feature of APR2 is its direct connection between PNG to Brisbane, which reduces transit times to 8 days from Lae and 3 days from Port Moresby.

Lae continues to serve as a trans-shipment hub, enabling access to Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Shane Walden, Managing Director at ANL & CMA CGM Agencies Oceania, has stated that, “APR2 represents more than just a new service — it’s a reflection of ANL’s long-term commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and supporting the economic development of our Pacific partners. As trade dynamics continue to evolve, we’re proud to provide infrastructure that helps our customers grow and adapt with confidence.”
