An Australian-flagged ship has run aground on a coral reef in Papua New Guinea.
The 93 metre cruise ship, Coral Adventurer (IMO 9838644), was en-route to Dregerhafen in Papua on the morning of 27 December 2025 when it ran aground on a coral reef north of Nussing Island.
An unsuccessful attempt was made to manoeuvre the ship off the reef at high tide using the ship’s own propulsion. Subsequently, the ship’s operator engaged a towing provider to assist with re-floating the vessel.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has begun a safety investigation into the incident.
