Boluda announces first key appointment

Boluda Towage Australasia is pleased to announce the appointment of Remko Hottentot as Director Business Development, effective as of October 10.

This marks the company’s first major leadership appointment following its transition from Smit Lamnalco to Boluda Towage in a $600m transaction.

Boluda Towage Australasia began operations on 1 October 2025, covering Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the wider region.

In his new role, Remko will lead regional growth initiatives, focusing on strategic partnerships, service expansion, and the introduction of sustainable technologies and fleet capabilities across the Boluda Towage Australasia network.

Managing Director David Fethers said the appointment reflects Boluda’s strong commitment to local capability and long-term investment in the region: “Remko’s appointment is a key step in further building a leadership team that combines local knowledge with global reach. His deep technical expertise, industry relationships, and passion for innovation will strengthen our ability to deliver for our customers and support our growth across Australasia.”

Remko added: “I’m excited to join Boluda Towage Australasia at such a pivotal time. The combination of Boluda’s global leadership and our local experience creates enormous potential for growth, innovation, and sustainable development across the region.”

Boluda Towage operates across 232 ports, deploying a fleet of over 850 tugs.
