Fremantle Ports has announced the appointment of Jodie Ransom as its new Chief Executive Officer, beginning 01 July 2024.
Ms Ransom has spent more than 30 years in the ports and marine industries. Jodie brings a wealth of experience having spent more than 30 years in the ports and marine industries. She was General Manager Operations at Fremantle Ports and is currently the acting CEO since the passing away of former CEO Michael Parker. Ms Ransom has previously held senior positions with Svitzer, CBH and Alcoa.
The recruitment process considered candidates across Australia and internationally, however, the port said, Ms Ransom’s breadth of experience across port operations, marine and shipping as well as commodity export experience made her “a clear stand out”.
“Jodie Ransom has demonstrated strong leadership since acting in the CEO role. Fremantle Ports looks forward to continuing the organisation’s operational and strategic direction and focus on customer engagement and asset renewal with her at the helm,” the port said in a statement.
Prior to her appointment as the Acting CEO, Ms Ransom was (and currently still is) the General Manager of operations from May 2023 at Fremantle Port. From 2020 to May 2023 she was the Deputy Chair at the Kimberley Ports Authority, a position that substantially overlapped in time with her position as General Manager – West at Svitzer Australia. She was previously the General Manager at MUR Shipping Australia for just under seven years from 2012 to 2018, and has worked in a range of logistics-related and managerial roles at a number of companies. She is a former mariner, having completed six years with BHP Transport, firstly as a cadet, then as a third, and later, a second navigation officer.
