The Mission to Seafarers Sydney has announced that this year’s keynote speaker for its Annual Parliamentary Luncheon will be Kaylene Dale, CEO of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
The event on 20 June at NSW Parliament House, recognises the sacrifices of seafarers who continue to face the challenges of geopolitical conflict, increased pressure from tighter turn-around times in ports, the global cost of living crisis and family issues.
Ms Dale has served in senior leadership roles in the Australian Border Force and the Department of Home Affairs.
“Seafarers are the backbone of our supply chain, particularly here in Australia where 99% of our trade relies on shipping,” said Mission to Seafarers CEO Clayton Strong. “However for most Australians they are hidden from view and receive little recognition for their contributions to our lives. Joining us is both an excellent opportunity to show you care as well as to connect with the over 160 people who join us to do so each year”.
All proceeds go towards the welfare work of MtS Sydney, and its staff have made over 600 visits to ships, hospitals and hotels in the past year as well as keeping their seafarers’ recreation and service centre open 7 days a week while continuing its mini-bus transport service.
This event is possible thanks to our sponsors: Gulf Agency Company (Australia) GAC Group, Svitzer Australia, Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the Daily Cargo News.
