Vale Ian D Rees

Shipping Australia is saddened to advise the industry of the passing of Mr Ian D Rees on 11 March 2023 at age 86.

Mr Rees spent his whole working life in the shipping industry, and nearly all of it based in Brisbane. He also served on the board of the Port of Brisbane.

He began his shipping industry career with Wills, Gilchrist and Sanderson in 1953, and retired as General Manager of Swire Shipping Agencies (as it was then known) over 46 years later.

Ian’s funeral and celebration of his life was held on 21 March at the Lakeview Chapel, Albany Creek Memorial Garden at Bridgeman Downs, Brisbane.
