Young Shipping Australia NSW Committee visits GrainCorp Port Kembla Terminal

By Shipping Australia

On 12 March 2025, the YSA NSW Committee kicked off our calendar of events for the year with a fascinating tour of GrainCorp’s Port Kembla Grain Terminal Facility.

From the railyard and rail and road hoppers, to 10 MT siloes and 9 km of conveyor belts, the team got their steps in at one of Australia’s largest grain export facilities, led by Damien O’Connell, Port Operations Manager at GrainCorp.

YSA NSW would like to express their thanks and appreciation to GrainCorp for an incredibly interesting tour and warm hospitality, as well as Rev. Un Tay of Mission to Seafarers for transporting the team from Sydney to Port Kembla and back, and joining us on the tour!

Tours like this are an invaluable way to help our members, especially Sydney-based and non-operations members to better understand the size and scope of operations and projects we work with, as well as the practical challenges facing our colleagues in operations.

We’ve included a few photographs from the day in this news item (see below).

If you would like to join us for the next YSA event or are interested in hosting an event at your site, please do not hesitate to reach out to the YSA NSW Committee at ys*@*******************om.au.
