Full Membership

Full Membership extends opportunities to engage with influential bodies and governmental agencies that shape the shipping industry. You’ll gain insight into the broader political and economic landscape affecting the sector within Australia, including areas such as port authority pricing, Customs and Quarantine regulations, waterfront reform, and more.

Full Members:

are eligible to be appointed to the Board of Directors of Shipping Australia; appointments are accompanied by a press release that is often widely picked up in local and international media
are entitled to a seat on our “Policy Council”, which meets approximately every six weeks. The Policy Council institutes and approves policies that safeguard the varied interests of the members, with particular attention paid to the operational and regulatory burdens on vessel operators. The Policy Council directs the work of the Secretariat of Shipping Australia
are updated at the Policy Council by the Shipping Australia Secretariat on government action, proposals and responses to issues that affect the industry. Full Members can also raise issues at that meeting
receive briefings from influential guest speakers who are often (but not exclusively) from Government. They address Full Members and give updates about current issues. Previous speakers include elected officials, the former CEO of AMSA, senior public service officials, heads of industry associations, consultants and more
can also appoint delegates to attend our State Committee meetings and working groups (for further details, see the Corporate Associate membership information below)

are entitled to attend regular state committee meetings in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia
