By Rev Tay, at the Sydney Mission to Seafarers.
Sydney Mission To Seafarers, in collaboration with NSW Ports, has converted the mission bus (a Mitsubishi Rosa) to a Mobile Vaccination Station.
The bus was stationed at the Bulk Liquids Berth, Terminal 1, and NSW Ports arranged with NSW Health for St George Hospital medical staff to administer AstraZeneca vaccine.
There were 11 crew from the Inge Kosan who came to be vaccinated.
The crew pre-filled the vaccination forms on board MVS; they were re-screened and went through some basic medical questions.
After the vaccination, they were given a form as proof of their vaccination.
Each person was given a bottle of water and a chocolate bar.
Sydney MTS also gave 13 gift packs to all the crew on board.
The Mobile Vaccination Station is available for deployment at other terminals as and when there is a need for vaccination for seafarers.
NSW Ports has previously coordinated similar vaccinations for ship’s crew. Please see the video below for further details.
