Federal Department of Agriculture releases several new important industry advice notices

The Federal Department of Agriculture has released several import industry advice notices of relevance to Australia’s physical import trade.

 

96-2026: Commencement of the Conveyance Waste Recycling Policy – Commercial and Cruise Vessels

What: a new policy for waste recycling for cruise and commercial vessels. From 1 July 2026, cruise and commercial vessel operators can apply to recycle eligible vessel generated waste, under the Conveyance Waste Recycling Policy. Who: all vessel owners, operators, masters and shipping agents who represent international commercial and cruise vessels arriving in Australian territory.

95-2026: Changes to Human Health Pre-Arrival Reporting for vessels

What: changes have been made to the human health pre-arrival report and human health update requirements in the Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System. Who: all vessel owners, operators, masters, and shipping agents who represent international commercial vessels, including cruise vessels, and are submitting pre-arrival reporting for arrival in Australian territory or are reporting a change in human health status as a human health update.

68-2026: Mandatory biosecurity reporting requirements for commercial and cruise vessel masters using the Maritime and Aircraft Reporting System 

What: key reporting and communication requirements; change in legislative requirements. Who: all vessel owners, operators, masters and shipping agents who represent international commercial vessels, including cruise vessels preparing for arrival into Australian territory.

99-2026: Mandatory biosecurity reporting requirements for cruise vessel masters, non-commercial vessel operators and shipping agents

What: outlines obligations for reporting prior to arrival and so that affected parties are made aware of Australia’s mandatory biosecurity requirements. Who: all vessel owners, operators, masters, and shipping agents who represent international cruise vessels and non-commercial vessel operators preparing for arrival into Australian territory.
